Here's the general information for the list you've subscribed to, in case you don't already have it: SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome ********************************************************** / | ___ ___ ___ ___ ___| ___ ___ _ _ ___ |___ | )| | | )| )| )| )| | )| ) __/ |__/ |__ | |__/ |__/ | |__/|| / |__/| Hi folks: This is not a regular listserv, with a long introductory friendly message explaining lots of ins and outs. I was amazed and delighted to find twenty-something people sign up within a day of my announcing the list. So here's a first welcome; I'm looking forward to getting to know more about you and your work. For me, the interest in this kind of theater is a background in Brecht and in both social and personal change. I had the fortune to encounter the amazing, dedicated work done by drama therapists and psychodramatists BEFORE I had a workshop with Boal, so was less blown away by his work than some other attendees--I'd already seen similar work done out of a different theoretical base. Indeed, J Moreno, the developer of psychodrama, worked out of a strong belief in community work. He is credited by some with having been the first to use the Living Newspaper format. My first effort in this field was the creation of the Web Site Guide to Applied and Interactive Theater (http://csep.sunyit.edu/~joel/guide.html). This is a shameless plug--if any of you on the list knows of groups that should be added to the site, let me know--access is free and open to all. I'm re designing the site to make it easier to read, so suggestions are welcome. I think of myself as a networker; this list is more for the doers. Introductions to describe your work and interests will probably help jump-start this new venture. I'm looking forward to this part of the journey, Welcome again, Joel Plotkin SUNY Utica
